textile from bastfibers of the Cucua tree (Poulsenia armata), the photo is from a display at a museum in Penomé (Panama). here 3 links : one about the three, one about promoting the revival of an almost extinct handcraft and culture, and the third is an interesting article, quiet academic, about the distinction between promoting cultural tourism and real respect for the way of life of the people who are at the origin of these textiles and their original use. something to think about.
